Hop Louie

Hop Louie

Hop Louie Chinese restaurant and bar is in Chinatown's signature 1941 built pagoda the largest one on the west coast.
The section where Hop Louie resides was built in the mid 1930's and all the buildings are classic Chinese themed architectural designs in downtown Los Angeles.
Hop Louie was one of the last restaurants to close in 2016 in this picturesque little section of Chinatown where it seems trends and lack of business have forced many of these old school places to shutter. The building is listed as a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Landmark so it can't be torn down.
It was one of my favorite places to get Cantonese style Chinese food in a traditional setting in downtown and the dark dive bar was a go to joint for drinks.
